RESTRUCTURING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (RAP)
The concept

In the past three years 41% of Belgian businesses underwent some form of restructuring. Given the economic situation and ever growing demand for cost management and efficiency, this figure will only increase. It is therefore expected that in the coming years approximately half of the working population will experience some degree of stress and job uncertainty as a result of restructuring. Part of them will effectively be confronted with drastic changes or dismissal.

Many initiatives have been taken to protect the employee in such circumstances. The Renault law assures employees have a right to information and guidance. Outplacement helps the dismissed employee search for a new job.

There are however few initiatives paying attention to the well-being of the employees during restructuring and/or restructuring negotiations in a holistic way. Traditionally the focus is on the dismissed employee or the employee who may possibly be dismissed and not on the emotional turmoil which the restructuring may cause to employees who remain behind (layoff survivor sickness). Also no focus on the difficult period laying ahead for the manager who has to carry this all out, trying at the same time to keep productivity and motivation up. Nor for the partner and/or family of the employee.

With the Restructuring Assistance Program, Eupora supports companies during restructuring by ensuring the well-being and health of their employees and preventing that the restructuring - for those who have to leave the company as well as those who stay behind - causes psychological damage.
